LEADERS DON'T GROW ON TREES
"Leaders don't grow on trees, they're built." This powerful truth cuts through the noise of leadership myths that have misled so many of us. Leadership isn't some mystical quality bestowed upon a lucky few at birth—it's forged through fire, failure, and those quiet moments when no one's watching but you keep pushing forward anyway.
Life is waiting for you each day and you have to prepare for each challenge along the way towards success. It's not simple, but it can be done. Welcome to my Common Sense Motivation episodes. I'm Chris Fantastic Powell. Leaders don't grow on trees. Let's get one thing straight Leaders are not born, they're built. They're built through fire, built through failure and built through the quiet moments when no one's clapping, but they keep going anyway.
Speaker 1:Today we're talking about leadership. Not the buzzword, not the title, not the corner office, but the real, raw, powerful responsibility that comes with it. A lot of people think leadership is some magical gift handed out at birth. He's a natural leader or she has it all. Let me stop you right there. That's not how it works. Leaders are not plucked from the trees like ripe fruit. They're forged through life, through moments of pressure, pain and purpose colliding all at once. Leadership isn't about being loud. It's not about commanding the room or having all the answers. Sometimes the strongest leaders are the ones who had to fight just to believe in themselves. They didn't wake up with confidence. They built it, one failure at a time, one setback at a time, one step forward when everything inside them screamed to quit.
Speaker 1:What makes someone a leader. It's not the title, it's not the promotion, it's not a book or course or seminar. It's the deep down conviction that says if I don't step up, who will? Leaders often don't even know their leaders until life forces them to become one. Until someone needs guidance, until a challenge demands action, until a moment asks the questions will you lead or will you wait for someone else? And here's the truth. Great leaders don't force people to follow them. They don't need to. People follow real leaders because they feel the truth in their actions, they feel the fire in their commitment. They see the consistency, the humility and the courage to take the hits and keep moving. That's leadership.
Speaker 1:Leadership doesn't have a uniform, it doesn't have a script. It doesn't always come with an applause, but it's the parent who works two jobs and still shows up. The coach who builds character more than skill. The manager who listens before speaking, the friend who leads by example even when no one's watching, the partner who brings vision and peace into a relationship. Life creates leaders, not textbooks, not theories and not certificates.
Speaker 1:You can sharpen a leader in a classroom, but you can't create one there. That comes from the fire of living, from the pressure of purpose. So if you've been through some things, if you've been broken, doubted, overlooked, misunderstood you might just be in training. The question is will you answer the call when it comes? Because, remember this leaders don't grow on trees, they grow in storms. They grow in silence, they grow in service. And if you feel something stirring inside of you, if you've been carrying a burden no one sees, if life keeps pushing you into situations where you have to step up, maybe that's not coincidence, maybe that's your moment. You don't need permission to lead, just the decision. Make it happen. I'm Chris Fantastic Powell. Thank you for listening.
